Ultraspeed and Hostroute merge to offer premium and shared managed hosting under one roof 23 October, 12:21 PM

Combined group now serving 50,000 websites across Europe and North America

Dedicated hosting solutions provider Ultraspeed UK Ltd (Ultraspeed) today announced the completion of its merger with Hostroute.com Ltd (Hostroute), the UK based provider of shared hosting solutions to the small business and consumer market. The share swap deal sees the combined company hosting in excess of 50,000 websites across Europe and North America. Jordan Gross, formerly commercial director at Ultraspeed UK Ltd takes on the role of Managing Director of the new Ultraspeed Group with Gordon Hudson, formerly Managing Director at Hostroute also joining the new board and taking on executive responsibility as Marketing Director. Both the Ultraspeed and Hostroute brands will be retained going forward.

Shoreditch, London-based Ultraspeed UK Ltd was formed in 1998 and provides premium, dedicated managed hosting solutions to a mix of corporate and local Government clients. Earlier in 2007, it became the first hosting provider in the world to achieve new levels of reliability with ‘diskless’ servers in which both data and client operating systems are stored remotely on NAS (Network Attached Storage) hardware, rather than individual hard drives. The company recently announced the implementation of DC power systems in its data centre to further improve reliability and dramatically reduce power consumption.

Edinburgh headquartered Hostroute was established in 2001 and provides cost-effective shared hosting aimed at personal users and small businesses. The combined group will offer a ‘one stop shop’ for private users and businesses both large and small. Customers can choose any level of support – from basic shared hosting services to the next generation dedicated hosting solutions currently deployed by Ultraspeed’s enterprise and Government clients.

Jordan Gross, Managing Director of Ultraspeed Group comments: “The merger made tremendous sense for both companies. Ultraspeed has traditionally focused on the higher end of the market for larger organisations seeking very fast, ultra reliable dedicated, premium hosting solutions whereas Hostroute has concentrated on the more value-end of the market where speed and large storage space are less important. In addition to the obvious economies of scale we gain, the combined group now offers a comprehensive portfolio of services and a clear migration path for developing companies.”

Gordon Hudson, Marketing Director at Ultraspeed Group added: “The merger was an obvious next step in the Hostroute’s development. Our customers now have the opportunity to migrate seamlessly to sophisticated hosting services as their business grow and their requirements become more complex. The services developed and pioneered by Ultraspeed and its partners are setting the standard for enterprise level hosting.”
