Guarantees
100% Uptime
Ultraspeed is able to promise 100% uptime because its Managed Cloud network has been designed from the ground up to be as reliable and redundant as possible. Multiple contingencies mean that even if something fails, your system still functions.
As for the physical server, just like any computer, once in a blue moon it could suffer a hardware fault. Another SLA guarantee is 15 minute hardware replacement, day or night. Even in the rare event of a faulty server, clients will never experience data loss, because data is kept on the SAN (Storage Array Network), not on the server. Offsite backups (to Ultraspeed's Amsterdam data centre) give another layer of reassurance.
When new hardware is plugged in, it boots from the same networked storage and seamlessly gets to work. Ultraspeed's Managed Cloud uses virtualisation technology that both secures data and can be scaled up and down as the client likes.
24/7/365 UK Support
Outsourcing hosting to Ultraspeed means getting much more than the latest technology. Every Ultraspeed client is assigned their own 3rd line Engineer contact, who is available via a direct line every day and night of the year. Clients never have to wait in queues or listen to automated messages. Clients get straight through to an Ultraspeed Engineer who they are familiar with, and who understands what is important to them. Ultraspeed Systems Engineers can monitor and fix each client's environment remotely and in real-time, and if the problem is with faulty hardware, a replacement server can be booted up within fifteen minutes.
Gold-Standard Hosting Technology
Ultraspeed clients are guaranteed the best technology for their needs, deployed in the most effective way. All of Ultraspeed's managed hosting solutions are based on its Managed Cloud platform, which is built from a selection of enterprise level technologies, and configured to personally suit each client. The aim is to be as reliable and as fast as possible, and at a price that makes sense.
Innovation means being smart about how you deploy your technology. Ultraspeed is a VMware Partner and a member of 3PAR's Cloud Agile programme, and uses best-of-breed technologies from leading companies such as Cisco, Juniper, Foundry, Rackable Systems and Extreme. More information is available on the Technology page.
Fast, Flexible, Scalable
Ultraspeed’s managed hosting combines the latest virtualisation and managed cloud technologies for optimum scalability. To incorporate new technologies Ultraspeed have designed and built its Managed Cloud platform from the ground up, to be fast, flexible and scalable.
Ultraspeed's physical servers use low-voltage processors with multiple cores, meaning they handle more tasks while using less power. With no moving parts in the physical servers themselves, all storage is centralised on fibre channel hard disks that not only offer speed, but also data security. Ultraspeed's Managed Cloud platform is flexible and purpose built, and using virtualisation means it is not constrained to the hardware it runs it on.
Built-in Disaster Recovery
Fires, floods, earthquakes: some events are beyond anyone's control. Even if disaster strikes, clients know their data is safe and ready to come back online as if nothing had happened.
With Ultraspeed, data is on the SAN network, not on a physical server. A full snapshot is taken of it every night. At any given time, more than a month of snapshots are waiting to be restored, should they be needed. Once a week (or more often if a client chooses) there is a full offsite backup to Ultraspeed's secure location in Amsterdam.
Not all threats are accidents. Together with Ultraspeed's upstream providers, clients are constantly guarded against intrusion and are defended from attacks such as distributed denial of service (DDoS). Managed firewalls protect all the servers, and each client is isolated in their own private security zone.
Ultraspeed’s systems have been built purely for Managed Hosting, so all solutions are thorough, efficient and secure.
Eco-Friendly
Ultraspeed uses the latest low-voltage servers to cut electricity consumption, and when making upgrades to the CPU’s the original chassis are recycled. The London and Amsterdam data centres use a hot/cold aisle model, and Ultraspeed's virtualised architecture gives maximised performance from the minimum kit, so it is easy to scale up and down as required.
Ultraspeed already run entirely on renewable energy in the Amsterdam office and recycles all its paper and plastics. Being conscientious with power usage throughout the Ultraspeed model goes without saying. Travel means trains not planes, and for short distances there is Ultraspeed's electric car.
