Security / Overview
Security is a priority for Ultraspeed both when building managed hosting environments for clients, and when designing the infrastructures on which clients’ managed hosting environments run. Below are the key security features of Ultraspeed's UltraSecure service.
UltraSecure Firewalls
UltraSecure is a sophisticated and powerful managed firewall service based on Ultraspeed's Juniper platform. High availability pairs of Juniper firewalls are arranged on a per rack basis, and managed by Ultraspeed's security specialists.
Each client is provisioned in a private security zone and virtual network. This gives the reassurance of having a completely private, securely managed environment.
Flow-aware firewalls allow Ultraspeed engineers to observe the traffic in terms of sessions between end users and services run on either the virtual servers or the dedicated physical servers, instead of just random packets going in and out of the managed hosting network. Intelligent inspection engines differentiate between users visiting a client's websites or the server making an API call to external XML data source, and apply appropriate security rules for both.
Ultraspeed strongly recommends that clients only access their managed hosting environments using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). This can either be a single secure tunnel (using software) from a laptop or desktop, or a permanent site-to-site VPN, allowing many users to connect securely with Ultraspeed to a managed client environment. This provides an extra layer of authentication before accessing critical servers (virtual or physical), as well as military-grade encryption and privacy.
Anti-Virus protection
AVG Enterprise Anti-Virus software is deployed on appropriate client environments, with updates rolled out every 24 hours.
Network Security
Ultraspeed takes a number of steps within its core network to ensure security, including the use of multiple vendors, administration via a management network, encrypted passwords and very many more. Each of these precautions has their own function that combine to give comprehensively managed network security.
SYN detection and block source IPs are both performed within the core network and via its managed firewall platform.
Intrusion Prevention
Intrusion prevention and detection is carried out within the UltraSecure managed firewall platform. These details are confidential for security purposes, but we are happy to explain them to our clients.
